Liz Kim is Of Counsel at Conrad|Metlitzky|Kane. Liz’s practice focuses primarily on complex civil litigation with a particular emphasis on legal issues faced by the technology and entertainment industries.

Liz previously practiced at Munger, Tolles & Olson where Liz regularly represented top companies in complex civil cases and pre-litigation matters. Liz obtained a $25 million settlement for the members of the Alliance for Creativity & Entertainment (the six member studios of the MPAA, Amazon and Netflix) in copyright litigation against an illicit streaming service. They successfully represented Facebook in multiple class actions regarding digital advertising and the scope of the Communications Decency Act, 47 U.S.C. § 230.

Liz has also handled a wide range of matters for public entities, such as The Regents of the University of California, handling claims under the First Amendment and California Public Records Act. In addition to obtaining favorable settlements for their clients, Liz also obtained a dismissal of a lawsuit against the University of California-Berkeley filed by conservative organizations alleging unlawful discrimination against speech by conservative speakers and groups at the University of California-Berkeley.

Liz has an active pro bono practice and serves on the boards of directors of the National Center for Lesbian Rights and the AIDS Legal Referral Panel.

Prior to joining the firm, Liz clerked for Justice Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar of the California Supreme Court, Judge Lucy H. Koh of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, and Judge Paul J. Watford of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Liz earned their J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law, where they served as editor-in-chief of the California Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Liz graduated cum laude from Wellesley College with a B.A. in political science.
