Warren Metlitzky is a trial attorney and a founding partner of Conrad|
Metlitzky|Kane. A former Assistant United States Attorney, Warren is an accomplished first-chair trial and appellate lawyer. He has tried many high-profile civil jury cases to successful verdicts, and won arguments before the Ninth Circuit and the California Court of Appeal. Warren handles high-stakes civil matters at all stages, from prelitigation investigations and initial crisis management through trial and appeal. Warren is often brought into ongoing litigation as lead trial counsel when cases approach trial.

Warren’s complex litigation practice covers many subject matters: cutting-edge sharing economy issues, contracts, founders’ and partnership disputes, copyright and trademark, fraud and civil RICO, class actions, First Amendment, defamation and anti-SLAPP litigation, employment discrimination, professional malpractice, civil rights, constitutional law, real estate, and public corruption. Warren’s clients range from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, and he individually represents CEOs, politicians and entrepreneurs. Throughout his career, Warren has litigated for a wide array of industries, including technology, health care, sports and entertainment, private equity and venture capital, transportation and infrastructure, cryptocurrency, and law enforcement.

Warren earned his B.A. from Yale University and his J.D., cum laude, from University of Michigan Law School, where he served as an associate editor for the Michigan Journal of Law Reform. After law school, Warren clerked for the Honorable Chief Judge Marilyn Hall Patel in the Northern District of California. After his clerkship, he practiced intellectual property and complex commercial litigation in San Francisco at Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin (now Arnold & Porter). He then spent nearly a decade as a trial lawyer with the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office handling dozens of civil jury trials and appeals, often under public scrutiny and closely followed by the press. The County Counsel’s Association of California recognized Warren for his appellate work with its annual Litigation Award.

Warren then joined the Department of Justice as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of California, and was appointed as a Special Attorney to the United States Attorney General. At the Department of Justice, Warren led a working group on civil litigation with Silicon Valley companies on the Stored Communication Act and electronic privacy issues.

Warren is a leader in the San Francisco legal community and enjoys mentoring future trial lawyers. He served as Chair of the San Francisco Bar Association’s Litigation Section and is a frequent speaker for continuing education programs. Warren coaches UC Berkeley School of Law’s mock trial teams, and guest lectures on trial advocacy at local law schools. The Northern District of California appointed Warren to its Alternative Dispute Resolution panel, where he serves a mediator and early neutral evaluator. He is on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Jewish Bar Association, is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco and the Federal Bar Association, and was a Barrister in The Edward J. McFetridge American Inn of Court.

Prior to law school, Warren taught middle and high school math in Los Angeles and Palo Alto.
